This is for an upcoming Sr Business Affairs Manager, with expected comp range of $105,000 - $125,000
Role:
The Senior Business Affairs Manager will manage business aspects of our commercial and experiential productions. This person will collaborate closely with Account, Creative, Production, and Legal teams to ensure all creative and experiential productions are industry compliant. They will play a strategic role in aligning business, legal, and creative priorities to ensure seamless production processes while safeguarding the company's and clients’ interests.
The Senior Business Affairs Manager will manage business aspects of our commercial and experiential productions. This person will collaborate closely with Account, Creative, Production, and Legal teams to ensure all creative and experiential productions are industry compliant. They will play a strategic role in aligning business, legal, and creative priorities to ensure seamless production processes while safeguarding the company's and clients’ interests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review creative materials for potential legal issues and provide solutions to minimize liability, including research on creative taglines, trademarks, and third-party rights.
- Assess and negotiate usage rights for third-party intellectual property, including music, footage, and names, and execute and manage music licenses (licensed, original, and stock).
- Prepare and negotiate contracts with vendors, talent, and creators/influencers, including deal memos, production, and editorial contracts, while handling scale and over-scale talent negotiations.
- Collaborate with Account, Creative, Production, and Social teams to execute the creative vision across traditional and digital platforms, including casting and influencer content creation and posting.
- Work with Producers on production estimates, budgets, and client approvals, ensuring compliance with union (e.g., SAG) and non-union guidelines, and assist in monitoring and reconciling production budgets.
- Process vendor invoices, reconcile costs, and close estimates in collaboration with Finance and third-party consultants.
- Maintain thorough and transparent project files, tracking charts, and documentation for all produced materials and licensing.
Requirements:
- 7+ years in Business Affairs and Licensing within an advertising agency.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the SAG-AFTRA Commercials Contract and proficiency in managing talent residual payments.
- Experience working on both union and non-union productions.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to adapt and excel in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Previous experience working with platforms such as Extreme Reach and/or The Team Companies.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to effectively manage contracts, budgets, and client relationships.
- Familiarity with intellectual property, usage rights, and licensing agreements.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with creative, production, and legal teams to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
- High attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Per local requirements and in the interest of transparency, the range shown below reflects the prevalent current hiring range for this position. Hiring pay rates are based on a number of factors, including location and may vary depending on job-related qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience.
