The Harris for President campaign (HFP) is looking for a Social Media Lead to join the Running Mate’s team. In this role, you will manage Governor Tim Walz’s social media accounts and help shape and execute the strategy across platforms, with a focus on maximizing engagement and growth. Reporting directly to the Running Mate’s Digital Director, you will lead efforts to amplify key messaging, engage audiences, and drive content strategy. The ideal candidate has a deep interest in politics and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This position is full-time and based in Wilmington, DE.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy for Governor Tim Walz’s presence across platforms that aligns with overall campaign objectives and messaging.
  • Draft and copy edit social media plans, leveraging previous experience managing high-profile social media accounts.
  • Drive engagement efforts by fostering meaningful interactions with supporters, responding to messages, and utilizing platform-specific features such as polls, Q&A sessions, and livestreams.
  • Monitor and analyze key metrics, such as engagement rate, reach, shares, and follower growth, to assess the effectiveness of strategies and identify areas for growth.
  • Stay on top of emerging trends and best practices, and proactively integrate them into the campaign’s strategy.
  • Create weekly data-driven reports that highlight key learnings and growth opportunities across the platforms and communicate those learnings to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the rapid response, video, design, and other cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and consistency across platforms.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of experience in social media management, preferably in a political or advocacy setting.
  • Strong creative skills with the ability to ideate and execute distribution for content across platforms.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to develop and drive data-driven strategies to achieve campaign objectives.
  • Attention to detail is a must, with a sharp eye for catching typos and ensuring accuracy in digital content creation and management.
  • Knowledge in video production, editing, and optimization for online platforms, with a strong understanding of storytelling techniques and visual communication principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey the campaign’s message and engage with supporters on platforms.
  • A collaborative spirit with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • A passion for politics and enthusiasm about working to elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.
