Role
At Book Launchers, we believe that great books deserve great audiences. As a contract Media Booking Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our authors get the media exposure they need to reach the right readers, build their brand, and maximize book sales. You’ll leverage your media connections and creative pitching skills to secure high-profile interviews, features, and coverage across broadcast, radio, podcasts, and online outlets run by influencers or organizations that are a good fit for featuring an author.
Responsibilities
- Craft compelling pitches that land new media opportunities to feature a client’s book or client as an expert.
- Research and pitch high-impact media outlets that align with our authors’ target audiences, ensuring their books get discovered by the right readers.
- Develop and execute media tour strategies, aligning book launches with relevant news cycles, industry trends, and key dates to maximize exposure.
- Act as point person between author, media outlet and related teams to ensure each interview goes off without a hitch and all parties are prepared.
- Prep authors for media interviews including preparation of pre-interview details sheets, camera or audio interview readiness and how to follow up.
- Strategize with the marketing team on each client to come up with new pitch angles relevant news pegs and creative, out-of-the-box ideas of new outlets, partnerships, and audiences to approach on behalf of the author or book.
- Track and organize outgoing pitches, create media trackers to share with clients and be able to report back efficient data in monthly reports.
- Connect with outlets, bookers, and reporters to develop relationships that will create brand awareness for Book Launchers and our authors.
- Coordinate with Book Marketing Manager, clients and the Book Launchers team on media pitching, status, progress and results.

- Our authors gain national and niche media exposure, helping them grow their readership, establish authority, and boost book sales.
- Clients secure media coverage on top-tier outlets that enhance their credibility, audience reach, and book success.
- Strategic relationships are developed with media contacts to help facilitate client exposure.

Requirements
You’re an experienced media strategist who thrives in securing high-impact press coverage and building strong relationships with media contacts. You understand how to position authors and their books in a way that excites editors, producers, and podcast hosts. You’re deadline-driven, highly responsive, and always looking for creative angles to land coverage. Ideally, you’re also looking for full-time work as an in-house publicist in the near future, but we’re flexible if you prefer to remain on contract.

- Broadcast Media Expertise: A strong network and a proven track record of landing media placements across TV, radio, podcasts, online media, and print.
- A Strategic and Creative Approach: You can spot media trends, develop unique angles, and uncover new opportunities that put our authors and their books in the spotlight.
- Relationship Builder Mentality: You excel at developing and maintaining media connections with reporters, producers, and bookers, ensuring ongoing coverage opportunities for our clients.
- Tech-Savvy with PR Tools: You’re comfortable navigating media databases like Cision, MuckRack, or similar platforms to identify and track media contacts.
- Flawless Organization & Follow-Through: You can juggle multiple clients, deadlines, and campaigns without missing a beat, while maintaining organized pitch trackers and reporting results.
- A Collaborative Yet Independent Work Style: You’re comfortable working both independently from home and collaboratively with our team, participating in company meetings, brainstorming sessions, and strategy discussions.
