Job Summary


The Manager of Construction is responsible for the operational success of the FAM Field organization in the implementation of the planned work portfolio. They manage the strategic direction and framework of the Field team. They will lead the implementation of the department vision, define team goals and metrics, and act as a strategic partner for clients. Expected to be strong in hiring, recruiting, managing, developing, coaching, and retaining individuals and teams, empowering them to elevate their levels of responsibility span-of-control and performance.

You will report to the Senior Manager-Programs Support.

What you will do

  • Pre Field Phase:
    • Ensure the Field team is properly collaborating with stakeholders to develop and manage the site logistics plan.
    • Build strong relationships with clients and contractors.
    • Utilize Disney partners across the property as required to accomplish the task.
    • Coordinate multiple projects with several variables, set realistic deadlines, and manage timeframes.
  • Field Phase:
    • Monitor the overall safety program in close coordination with WDW Safety.
    • Evaluate the scheduling process and utilize tools to properly load resources.
    • Evaluate the Daily Report process and ensure departmental compliance.
    • Address issues with contractors, operations, vendors, and governmental agencies.
    • Ensure that the Field team is enforcing contractor/manufacturer compliance with contract drawings, schedules and specifications, applicable codes, and Disney standards.
    • Ensure construction procedures are in accordance with environmental, Department of Health, OSHA, and code requirements.
    • Evaluate and monitor work in variable weather conditions to determine if any actions would be required to maintain safe work areas.
  • Post-Field Phase:
    • Lead a team of Construction Managers ensuring proper coverage of projects.
    • Establish reporting and control requirements to ensure projects are constructed as planned.

Required Qualifications &Skills

  • 10+ years of interdisciplinary construction technical/operational experience.
  • Proven ability to negotiate effective decision-making with clients and internal/external service providers throughout all phases of the project.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple complex projects, and manage schedule and operational constraints.
  • Critical thought partner for senior leaders and internal/external service providers.
  • Leads Performance Management of the Field organization.
  • Direct point of contact for executive leaders.
  • Provides decision-makers with creative solutions for implementing projects within constraints.
  • Partners with team members to advance project solutions to executive leaders.
  • Champion process and system efficiencies.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field or Construction Management. Education may be mitigated with additional years of application experience.
