The Production Stage Manager - Assistant Manager is a critical central member of the production team.
This position provides substantial support to the Production Manager in the administration of the production process for the Department of Theatre's four-show academic season.
Specific duties include: supervise, mentor, and support student stage managers and backstage crew for department productions; attend, oversee, and provide onsite supervision of technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances for department productions; maintain and track department production budgets
(materials and labor); maintain department and production calendars; attend production and design meetings, record and distribute notes; may also teach courses in area of specialization; maintain rehearsal spaces; write guest artist
contracts; and perform other duties as assigned.
UMBC offers competitive compensation. This role starts at $55,500 and has over 4 weeks of vacation for regular full time roles. Tuition remission is also available.

Specific responsibilities include:
- Supervising and supporting student stage managers and backstage crew for department productions
- Attending production and design meetings, as well as recording and distributing notes
- Attending, overseeing, and providing onsite supervision of technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances for department productions while maintaining UMBC's safety and equity standards
- Teaching courses in stage management, theatre production (run crew), and/or production management
- Ensuring that the department and production calendars are up-to-date
- Maintaining rehearsal spaces (including furniture, cubes, chairs, tables etc.)
- Liaising with facilities / operations staff in room use and front-of-house activities
- Organizing department events including student meetings, auditions
- Performing other duties as assigned
- B.A./B.F.A. in Theatre or related field with two years professional Stage or Production Manager experience or its equivalent.
- Professional experience as stated above in regard to training on the following systems and knowledge of the following functions:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), Adobe Acrobat;
Proficient with Google products (Calendar, Mail, Drive, Sheets, Docs, and Hangouts) - Requires excellent organizational, problem solving, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of theatrical production, design and build processes required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), Adobe Acrobat;
- The individual should be prepared to work during the evening for rehearsals and other Theatre-related events.
- M.F.A. in Theatre or related field.
- Q-Lab and experience with consent-based theatrical practice

Salary: $55,500 - $62,500 depending on qualifications and experience.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.
