Parade.com is seeking an Executive Editor, Entertainment and News to join our dynamic team. We're looking for a hard-working, dedicated, pop culture-obsessed candidate who not only knows everything about the shows, movies and celebrities-of-the-moment, but is able to write news headlines that click and spot the next big thing when it comes to TV and streaming before the competition. You’re a super fan who has the insight and insider scoop that sparks conversation, with the contacts to land exclusives worthy of our major legacy entertainment/lifestyle brand. You have extensive experience piloting an entertainment news desk, and the ability to give clear and quick direction and feedback to writers and editors on strategy and execution. You’ll manage a small team of editors assigning and producing SEO and trending tv, movie and celebrity content and a 7-day-a-week news operation for breaking and trending news. Duties will include entertainment and news content strategy, SEO content strategy, planning, assigning and editing content, managing updates and optimizations of legacy content, and writing as necessary. You’ll also collaborate closely with our social and video teams on live event coverage and on leveraging entertainment and news content for those platforms, as well as represent Parade at industry events and in the media as needed. The ideal candidate has experience creating and running content strategy, mentoring writers and editors, assigning, editing and writing a high-volume, fast-paced competitive environment, relationships with key celebrity publicists and a roster of top-notch freelance writers in the entertainment space. Must be willing to work nights and weekends as necessary. This position reports to Parade’s Chief Content Officer.


The Arena Group’s expected annualized base salary range for this position is currently $130,000 -$140,000. Actual salaries will vary based on multiple factors including education, experience and other factors permitted by law. The listed salary range is but one component of The Arena Group’s total compensation and benefits available to its employees.

What You’ll Do:


  • Determine Entertainment and News content strategy in collaboration with Chief Content Officer, audience and other key members of the team
  • Work with Deputy Entertainment Editor to plan, assign and edit monthly long-lead entertainment calendar
  • Monitor daily entertainment and pop culture news cycle and work with Deputy Editor, Trending News on story selection and headlines
  • Collaborate with social and video teams on live event coverage (awards season, major red carpet events and other tentpole events)
  • Edit clear, compelling, voice-y and accurate stories on tight deadlines
  • Use analytics & research tools such as Google Analytics, Google Trends, ahRefs, Parsley, etc. to monitor story and section performance, and adjust strategy accordingly
  • Manage SEO update and optimization strategy of existing stories
  • Conduct and write celebrity interviews, including on-camera interviews, as needed
  • Work closely with team members on ideation, site direction, and content package execution

What You’ll Bring:

  • 5-7 years’ experience working in a fast-paced entertainment digital environment with increasing editing/assigning responsibilities
  • Previous experience creating and executing content strategy for entertainment/pop culture news and SEO content
  • Knowledge of digital content best practices, SEO and audience development tactics
  • Versed in analytical & research tools such as Google Analytics, ahrefs, Parsely etc.
  • Excellent communication, organization, leadership and time management skills
  • Collaborative, team-oriented and able to inspire and motivate a team
  • Ability to quickly come up with headlines that click, without compromising factual information or brand integrity
  • Relationships with celebrity publicists and freelance entertainment/TV writers
  • A sense of fun, urgency, and a can-do attitude
  • Relationships with freelance writers
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field
