GENERAL INFORMATION

JOB TITLE: Communications & Marketing Manager

LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Communications and Marketing Manager's role is to increase the reach and impact of Shondaland's profile and visibility through the delivery of high value and influential communications and marketing both nationally and internationally. This position has a heavy public relations focus with emphasis in streaming and content, with some marketing components.

The incumbent will be responsible for participating in the development of public relations strategies and their implementation and measurement. The Communications Manager will be able to translate business strategies and objectives to produce sound public relations agendas and marketing messages, collaborating with teams to develop and execute marketing campaigns across digital and traditional channels. They will work closely with internal constituents to create web and social media strategies to support overall business objectives and develop compelling copy for multiple platforms.

This position is in Los Angeles and reports directly to the Director of Communications & Marketing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Develop, implement, and manage effective publicity strategies to promote the Shondaland brand, content (broadcast and streaming content, podcast, etc.), product, and overall initiatives and accomplishments.

Develop and maintain strong relations with key industry media contacts and manage an effective PR program to promote the company's objectives and celebrate its accomplishments.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop content, including research and information gathering, writing and editing copy.

Provide executive communications support by working with VP and Director of Communications & Marketing to source, draft, and place speeches, memos, and articles.

Oversee management of the marketing communications through the various communications channels.

Research industry best practices and identify opportunities to enhance company marketing materials and promotion strategies.

Work with Director of Communications & Marketing to generate specifications for marketing campaigns based on creative briefs provided by branding team.

Optimize content to convey the Shondaland value proposition to appropriate constituencies with engaging and persuasive messaging and storytelling.

Ensure assets are integrated across corporate, marketing, and sales programs and campaigns, and optimized for specific delivery channels, including, Advertising (print & digital), Client communications, consumer stories, direct mail, email, whitepapers, newsletters, presentations, press releases and articles, print and digital collateral (brochures, data sheets, etc.), videos, etc.

Work closely with Social Media Manager on broadcast and streaming content social media strategies

Work with partner marketing teams to help finalize promos, unit photography selects, key art, etc.

Manage and assist in developing the annual communications budget and ensuring its use is fully maximized.

Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Proven experience in campaigns for film or television.

Demonstrated skills and knowledge in leveraging all marketing channels to create communications that drive awareness, engagement and ultimately, impact.

Ability to take complex information and translate it into simple but compelling communications and experiences; equally comfortable communicating about business trends with marketing principles.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, with expertise communicating effectively across audiences, and must be comfortable managing PR and media relations.

Proven ability to deliver communications that connect with their audiences and have impact on perspectives and actions.

Ability to collaborate with internal departments and marketing team to assess and identify communications needs.

Demonstrated understanding of tools, techniques, and trends for creativity and innovation in communications production and delivery, as well as the ability to drive change and garner support for organizational changes.

Proven reputation as a highly valued communications consultant to key leaders within an organization.

Superior editorial and interpersonal skills with a range of communications and project management experience.

Able to perform with poise under tight deadlines and shifting priorities, as well as successfully navigate a complex organization to build productive relationships and drive projects and initiatives to a successful conclusion in a timely manner.

Highly organized and detail-oriented with outstanding follow-through skills.

"Can-do" attitude and collaborative, and able to work independently to accomplish goals and objectives.

Strong planning, budgeting and analytical skills.

Awards experience is a plus.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field, preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in communications in entertainment company or agency supporting entertainment clients.

Proven return on investment as related to communication strategy development and implementation

A minimum of 1-2 years' experience management experience or experience leading a team.

Proficiency with Microsoft Suite of products (i.e., Word, Excel, PPT, etc.)
